Proverbs for Wednesday: Light & Truth for the Next Phase

Life is lived one day at a time, one event at a time, one decision at a time. Our future unfolds before us step by step. The natural order of progression is that step 1 is taken before step 2 and then step 3 is taken after those previous steps. We see the next step only after we have taken the previous one.  One thing needs to be in place before we can understand the next. Seeing the place and purpose of one thing enables us to see the next. It isn’t necessarily seen all at once.

This process occurs as we walk by the light we have and receive more light and insight as we go.

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. –  Proverbs 4:18,19

This proverb illustrates that the knowledge we need for the path we walk is incremental. One truth or principle at a time provides progressive insight. When one truth is in place we can build on it.

Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still, teach a righteous man, and he will add to his learning. – Proverbs 9:9

Both these proverbs are ‘prophetic’ in the sense that when we walk step by step in faith, there is a guaranteed outcome or vision.
Take the next step. Learn a new truth………and the Lord will take us onto the next phase of life and service.

PRAYER:

Thank you, Lord, that you are constantly leading us and will give us light and truth for our future.
Bless us with fresh insight as we read your word.
Bless us with insight for the steps we take, in our families/relationships /work decisions/service in our church.
Lead us as a church in the steps we take to secure a new Senior Pastor for the days ahead.

Amen.
