(with some additions from Ange)
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” – Isaiah 43:2
This is a stressful and unsettled time. And you may feel like you’re going through it alone. No matter how alone you may feel the reality is you’re not alone! God sees what you’re going through, all of it and God sees you. (Genesis 16:13-14) God cares about what you are going through and having to endure. (1 Peter 5:7) He’s right beside you, no matter the situation or circumstances you may be facing. He may not take it away but He promises to sit with you in the midst of it. Lean on Him.
There is nothing to fear when you know God is near. No matter what you face in the future, you will never face it alone. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you”
Satan will plant all kinds of seeds of doubt and fear in your mind like, “What if I get sick?” or “What if the economy collapses?” or “What if I lose my job?” And, you will undoubtedly face anxiety from other sources too.
Give those fears to Jesus and remember God promised to never to abandon you. You don’t have to know what the future holds because you know who holds the future. God promises, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you . . . ” (Isaiah 43:2 NLT).
The will of God will never take us where the Grace of God cannot keep us.
Talk It Over
- What are some of the fears you’re feeling right now?
- What keeps you from giving them to God and trusting fully in Him?
- How would your life change if you put your total trust in God?
- Ask God to strengthen your trust in him.
Lord God, in these uncertain times, help me to trust you one day at a time. Help me to lay down all my fears and my anxiety at your feet and trust you with it. Forgive me, when I forget to trust, please remind me through your Holy Spirit of your faithfulness and companionship, in very real ways, when I feel alone or afraid. I love you and I thank you that you always have my back. In Jesus Name, AMEN
