Proverbs for Wednesdays – Blessing

Ray Smith

It’s my privilege to provide a devotion for the church each Wednesday. I’ll be using Proverbs to do that.
When our lives have changed so much, “Proverbs” tells us how to live. What to do and how to do it. The book of Proverbs is a compendium of wisdom for us.

What paths of wisdom can we walk along in these (dare I use the word “unprecedented”) times? Actually the present crisis is a time in which God can use us in unprecedented ways! It’s a time to bless and refresh others.

Proverbs 11:11 tells us that we can have an amazing impact on people around us, when we commit to blessing them. “Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted”. We are actually used to influence and lift up our community!

Another Proverb 11:25 tells us that our generosity refreshes the spirit of others.
“A generous man will prosper He who refreshes others, will himself be refreshed.”

Personal Question

Who can I bless and refresh this week? Through a phone call/text/e-mail/card/or a shout over the side fence…

Who are you personally praying for? Tell them you are praying for them.

# Lord, please give us fresh eyes to see the needs of people around us. In our street, family and church.

# Please show us how we can influence people and bring refreshment to them, through what we say and do.

# We thank you for the truth that our Lord Jesus said about us, that we are His salt and light in our world.

# Thank you that you will bless and refresh our spirit, soul and body as we commit to continue to seek to serve you.
